Starting with a Runway ML model based on images of bugs, the algorithm was trained with images of 18th and 19th century Tejano cattle brands from the Bexar archives, illustrated by Jack Jackson in his book Los Mesteños.
The project explores formal similarity in brands of the period and the cultural distinctiveness of the designs.
